Prince Charles surfaces from his last dive onto the sunken Tudor warship 'Mary Rose' onto the Sleipner stationed above the wreck in the Solent a mile off Portsmouth today. It was his ninth dive into the wreck lying in 45 feet of water in the seabed mud and which is due to be raised later this year. See PA Story 'Prince' timed 1804

Prince Charles strolls through Cowdray Park with Sabrina Guinness

Prince Charles shows his girl to the world. Prince Charles threw Royal traditions to the winds on Sunday and showed off his latest girlfriend. And speculators on the royal marriage market said there was meaning to the move. He had earlier tried to keep his country weekend with banking heiress Sabrina Guinness a secret, although she had been watching him play polo at Cowdray Park, on Friday and Saturday (4 and 5 August 1979). But when the couple returned to watch an evening match on Sunday, Charles decided to 'go public'. He and 24 year old Sabrina mingled with spectators, walked together over the playing area and sat side by side in the public stands. An experienced Royal observer said "I was amazed. It would seem that they are more than just good friends"

Prince of Wales in commando assault course - The Prince of Wales running through a stream , during the assault course. The Prince of Wales took part in a tough commando assault course, in which he scaled climbing nets and vertical walls, swung across chasms and tackled a 20-foot high tree -to-tree rope walk. Then, after a mile and a half cross country slog, he had to crawl through a half submerged pipe. The course, which the Prince described as "a horrifying expedition", took place at the Royal Marines training centre at Lympstone, Devon. Newspaper Advises Prince To Look To America. Prince Charles, 28 year old heir to the British throne and world's most eligible bachelor, was given a tip by the London Daily Mirror Tuesday about where to look for his future queen among America's blue-blooded heiresses. The paper's New York correspondent reported that the society matrons of America believe Charles should give girls in the land of opportunity the once over. Britain's future King: A new portrait of His Royal Highness Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, by Bryan Organ. The idea for the portrait was first broached in September 1979, and artist and sitter met on November of the same year. The National Portrait Gallery, which acquired the finished painting in 1980, left the design to be worked out by the artist and Prince Charles together. The painting, an informal study, is a searching portrait of Prince Charles which indicates his interest in outdoor pursuits. Painted in acrylics on canvas and measuring 70 inches by 70 inches, the painting will be unveiled at the National Gallery on 12 February 1981. Bryan Organ, aged 46, and a former lecturer at Loughborough College of Art, has painted portraits of many people of note, including Malcolm Muggeridge the writer and journalist, Sir Michael Tippett, the composer, designer Mary Quant, ballerina Nadia Nerina, and in 1970, Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret, sister of the Queen and aunt of the Prince of Wales
