London. Princess Anne, under guidance from a senior British Army officer, fires a Stirling submachine gun during her visit to the 14th/20th Hussars at Paderborn, West Germany on 31 October. Wearing an off-white, high crowned Spanish style hat, with an army combat jacket, the Princess fired first from the shoulder, with two bullseyes out of ten rounds, (left), and then from the hip she scored eleven hits from twenty rounds. A model to scale of the Royal dais for the Investiture of the Prince of Wales at Caernarvon Castle showing the canopy in perspex. Twenty-five feet wide at the front tapering to 9 feet 6 inches at the rear, the canopy is unique in design, being the first, as far known, to be constructed entirely of cemented acrylic in such a large structure. The circular plinth of the dais, which will be in Welsh slate, will have a diameter overall of 28 feet 10 inches
