On 4 August 1980, the Queen Mother (right leaning forward) celebrates her 80th birthday. In December 1936 her husband, the Duke of York, succeeded as King George VI. On 6 February 1952 he died, and this picture was taken on her daughter's Coronation Day, June 2 1953.
