Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, accompanied by her husband, the Honorable Angus Ogilvy, will leave for Washington DC on 16 April 1983, returning on 20 April. The couple will attend the dedication of the Ditchley Bells, which have been presented to the United States Congress by the British Foundation as a gift to commemorate the 1976 Bicentenary of the United States of America. The bells will be installed in the Old Post Office Tower in Washington's Pennsylvania Avenue, and will be formally dedicated on 19 April. The ceremony forms part of the 1983 Bicentenary of the signing of the Treaty of Paris, which marked the formal end of hostilities after the War of Independence.
