Off Southsea, Hampshire. Prince Charles in diving gear today when he went 40 feet beneath the choppy seas of the Solent to inspect a ship that was once a flagship in King Henry VIII's navy. The Prince made two 30 minute dives on the wreck of the Mary Rose, one and a half miles off Southsea. It is the second time the Prince, who is President of the Mary Rose Trust formed to excavate the ship which sunk in a battle with the French fleet in 1545, has dived to the wreck

Prince Charles strolls through Cowdray Park with Sabrina Guinness

Prince Charles shows his girl to the world. Prince Charles threw Royal traditions to the winds on Sunday and showed off his latest girlfriend. And speculators on the royal marriage market said there was meaning to the move. He had earlier tried to keep his country weekend with banking heiress Sabrina Guinness a secret, although she had been watching him play polo at Cowdray Park, on Friday and Saturday (4 and 5 August 1979). But when the couple returned to watch an evening match on Sunday, Charles decided to 'go public'. He and 24 year old Sabrina mingled with spectators, walked together over the playing area and sat side by side in the public stands. An experienced Royal observer said "I was amazed. It would seem that they are more than just good friends"

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip arrive in Kuwait

Queen's Tour of Eastern Arabia 1979. The Queen and Prince Philip were greeted by Arab Princess in gold and brown robes as they arrived in Kuwait by Concorde on Monday (12 February) on the first stage of their three week tour of the Middle East. Wearing a long sleeved apricot sorbet coloured dress with matching pillbox hat, with flowing oriental style scarf, the Queen was greeted by the 51 year old Emir of Kuwait. A 21 gun salute was fired and two national anthems were played by the Queen and Prince were escorted to the Royal Yacht Britannia. In the evening the Emir gave a state banquet in honour of the Royal couple. With the growing trouble in Iran the Queen's visit is seen as strengthening bonds with Britain. Just good friends. A pretty blonde divorcee is Prince Charles' latest girl friend. Jane Ward, 23, a keen horsewoman bumped into Prince Charles accidentally at a polo match. He rode up to her after hitting a polo ball that struck her on the leg, they have been friends ever since.
