The life and times of the Duke of Windsor
A series of pictures depicting the life and times of the Duke of Windsor. The Duke, who is the eldest son of his late Majesty King George V, was born 23 June 1894. He ascended the throne as King Edward VIII in January 1936 and abdicated in December 1936. Six months later her married Mrs Wallis Warfield (formerly Simpson). Photo shows the Duke of Windsor then the Prince of Wales on HMS Queen Elizabeth during fleet exercised in the Mediterranean in 1932, with him in the centre of the picture is his younger brother Prince George, later to become the Duke of Kent
