Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip Wedding
The Royal Silver Wedding. The scene in Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947 during the wedding ceremony of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The ceremony was conducted by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, the late Lord Fisher. Flanking the royal couple are King George VI and the groomsman, the Marquess of Milford Haven, Queen Elizabeth, now the Queen Mother, is seen on the right

On 4 August 1980, the Queen Mother (second right) celebrates her 80th birthday. On the day this library picture of 20 November 1947 was taken she became a mother-in-law and after the Westminster Abbey ceremony, the Royal wedding party appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. They include King George VI (left), Princess Margaret (second left), the bride Princess Elizabeth (now Queen Elizabeth II), the groom, newly-created the Duke of Edinburgh, and Queen Mary, widow of George V

The Duke of Windsor: A Biography in pictures
The Duke of Windsor celebrates his 78th birthday on 23 June. These photographs, many of them historic, illustrate a Royal life and career crowded with incident. The Prince of Wales, a fearless horseman, is seen in the hunting field in April 1923; 24 years later, and now the Duke of Windsor, is pictured with the Duchess on board the liner Queen Elizabeth. They were crossing from New York to Southampton in May 1947
