Prince Charles portrait by Bryan Organ

Britain's future King: A new portrait of His Royal Highness Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, by Bryan Organ. The idea for the portrait was first broached in September 1979, and artist and sitter met on November of the same year. The National Portrait Gallery, which acquired the finished painting in 1980, left the design to be worked out by the artist and Prince Charles together. The painting, an informal study, is a searching portrait of Prince Charles which indicates his interest in outdoor pursuits. Painted in acrylics on canvas and measuring 70 inches by 70 inches, the painting will be unveiled at the National Gallery on 12 February 1981. Bryan Organ, aged 46, and a former lecturer at Loughborough College of Art, has painted portraits of many people of note, including Malcolm Muggeridge the writer and journalist, Sir Michael Tippett, the composer, designer Mary Quant, ballerina Nadia Nerina, and in 1970, Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret, sister of the Queen and aunt of the Prince of Wales
