The Queen Mother has always been famous for her millinery and in this July 1947 library picture she wears a striking toque, in grey felt, decorated all round the high brim with clipped ostrich feathers, finished off with a felt bow on the right side. The occasion was as Queen Elizabeth she attended a St James's Palace garden party in aid of the British Empire Nurses War Memorial Fund
