He passed the flying test to qualify for the flying badge which is awarded to members of university air squadrons. But this set of photographs shows Lieutenant The Prince of Wales in a serious frame of mind, captaining his ship, HMS Bronington during an exercise with other ships of the same First Mine Counter-Measure Squadron in the Firth of Forth. Prince Charles, who will be 28 on 14 November, took command of HMS Bronington on 9 February this year. At sea with Prince Charles on this occasion (25 October) was with his brother, Prince Andrew, 16, who is now at school at Gordonstoun.
