Casket presented to Prince Charles
The Casket presented to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales by the Corporation of London on his admission to the freedom of the city of London. The casket takes the form of a traditional sea chest of the late 19th century, and is made in gold. The body of the casket is in a matt finish, with the protective angle brackets and bars in polished gold. The lid is surmounted with the Arms of the City of London carved in white gold, and the emblem of His Royal Highness , the three feathers, applied to the front of the box. An inscription inside the lid commemorates the occasion. This type of sea chest was probably used by His Royal Highness' great-grandfather and grandfather during their service with the Royal Navy as midshipmen
