Prince Edward at Radio 1

Radio 1's Royal April Fool. Millions of Radio 1 listeners were fooled this morning on the 'Mike Smith Radio 1 Breakfast Show' when instead of American rock star Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Edward turned up to take part in the programme. 'The Prince' who has come to talk to Radio 1 about his involvement in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, entered into the spirit of April Fools Day by pretending to be the American star 'Prince' until his voice finally gave him away. He also demonstrated the new Radio 1 stereo sound by drinking orange juice and crunching BBC toast before the microphone. "Prince Edward was wonderful, he was as much a part of our April Fool's joke as everyone else involved with the programme", said Mike Smith.
