The Queen, with the 20 stone King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV, one of the world's heaviest heads of state, after he has greeted her and Prince Philip on their arrival in Tonga during their Silver Jubilee Tour of the Pacific. During her visit the Queen bestowed one of Britain's highest honours on the Tongan ruler. He was made a Knight Grand Cross of St Michael at St George, a rank limited to 100 holders, at a ceremony in Tonga's Royal Palace

Transport Secretary Nicholas Pidley told MPs this afternoon that around £7,500,000 will be spent in the next four years refurbishing the royal train fleet. Bulletproof windows in particular carriages was an obvious requirement.
