The Prince of Wales was this morning presented with his flying badge at Royal Air Force Tangmere, Sussex by Air Marshall L D Mavor, Air Office Commanding in Chief Royal Air Force training command. Prince Charles who began his flying training in July of last year and made his first solo flight in January has now completed 80 flying hours this morning. He passed the flying test to qualify for the flying badge which is awarded to members of university air squadrons. His Royal Highness flew in a chipmunk aircraft of the Queen's flight with his instructor Squadron leader Phillip Pinney. Prince Charles was also presented with a model of a Chipmunk by chief technician John Rae on behalf of a five men ground crew team of the Queen's flight. The team acted as ground crew on all of Prince Charles' 100 flying trips

Prince Charles had a command performance of Goonery on Monday night (11-11-74) at a dinner in London to celebrate the publication of a book of scripts of radio's famous Goon Show programmes. But only three of the Goons were there: Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Michael Bentine. The sick absentee was Harry Secombe. Not to be outdone he sent the Prince a poem. "Oh spare a thought for poor old Ned, lying sick upon his bed - wishing he were there tonight instead of being struck with blight." Prince of Wales in commando assault course. The Prince of Wales prepares to dive into a half-submerged pipe during the assault course. The Prince of Wales took part in a tough commando assault course, in which he scaled climbing nets and vertical walls, swung across chasms and tackled a 20-foot high tree -to-tree rope walk. Then, after a mile and a half cross country slog, he had to crawl through a half submerged pipe. The course, which the Prince described as "a horrifying expedition", took place at the Royal Marines training centre at Lympstone, Devon. The Prince of Wales will join the commando ship HMS Hermes as a helicopter pilot in March
