Introduction for D212 entitled “Instruction of Physical Education” – Points of interest in the file include correspondence between Rev W E Beck [Principal of St Paul’s College] and Bertram N Bligh [Secretary to the Board of Education] which resulted in the introduction of a course in Advanced Physical Training in 1937. The course was designed to train new masters for the instruction of Physical Training in senior schools.
Also of interest is the correspondence between Rev Beck and W Turner Long [Secretary to the local Education Department]. This resulted in the appointment of Harry Starmer Smith as Organiser of Physical Training for schools and colleges in the area of Cheltenham and Gloucester
